Lab-grown diamonds are now widely accepted as real diamonds, with the same physical, chemical and optical properties as mined diamonds. The FTC and international trade standards recognize laboratory-grown diamonds as diamonds, provided disclosure is clear. Consumer perception has shifted dramatically over the last few years, moving the discussion away from origin and towards quality, craftsmanship, light performance and value.
