Ice and Accountability: The Story of Protocol 47

Today, we focus on a critical and sometimes overlooked aspect of global environmental governance - the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty, which we’ve come to know as Protocol 47. Adopted on October 4, 1991, this agreement marked a significant step in international efforts to preserve the unique environment of Antarctica.
