Often called the "forgotten war," the conflict in Yemen has waged on since 2014, with deep historical roots and a tangled mix of local and international interests.<br />To understand why this war began, we need to wind the clock back to 2014. That’s when the Houthi movement, a group with roots in northern Yemen, seized control of the capital city, Sana'a. They declared themselves the new government, a bold move that led to a military intervention in 2015. A coalition led by Saudi Arabia stepped in to restore the internationally recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
