Summary

The Twitch Safety Advisory Council is a new initiative from Twitch. Twitch created this "Twitch Council" to set up a board of advisor-experts to help Trust and Safety make informed decisions about longstanding problems on the website. Inconsistent bans and enforcement are a longstanding problem on Twitch.

In 2018, Twitch had the initial idea to create this Council as a way to show they are listening to streamers and viewers about the problems on the platform. Two years later, four broadcasters and four experts are selected to form this Council. I have a ton of respect for some of the members - I think CohhCarnage and Zizaran are highly intelligent and set up to do great things.

The community has since lashed out against one of the members, FerciouslySteph. While we talk a little bit about this in the podcast - I think no one's actually asking the question of whether this Council actually makes a difference on what it sets out to do. In this podcast we discuss if the Twitch Council even matters, and if it's going to make any difference on the issue of bans and enforcement.
