This is a video about the esports industry and how we got here. Many esports teams are struggling, and you might have heard the news of teams like TSM and CLG - foundational North American teams - that are leaving major esports. Does esports as a business model make sense? Are esports teams making money? What is the future of esports?
With the end of CLG and TSM looming, I wanted to make a video addressing the future of esports. This video is especially focused on the future of esports from the perspective of large franchise leagues. So this video covers the LCS, OWL, CDL, and major esports leagues. We talk a little about FGC, fighting games, and other esports but mostly focus on League of Legend esports, Call of Duty esports, and Overwatch esports.
