Russian Colonial Aggression and the Evolution of Ukrainian Identity - Interview with Yehor Brailian

<p>For some that subscribe to a Cold War view, the current conflict is the &nbsp;result of a great game between the US and Russia. NATO is the prime &nbsp;cause of this horrific conflict in some people’s minds. And for others &nbsp;it is the result of a global industrial-military complex that feeds off &nbsp;conflict and chaos. But for Ukrainians it is a fight for survival; they &nbsp;tend to see Russia as a local, imperial aggressor. Today I am unpacking &nbsp;these interpretations with Yehor Brailian, journalist and expert on &nbsp;colonialism in history. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Yehor Brailian’s areas of expertise are colonialism, the international &nbsp;history of the twentieth century, British history and politics, as well &nbsp;as security in the media. He is Special Correspondent for ArmyInform, &nbsp;covering international security and defence cooperation of Ukraine &nbsp;together with military aid and the phenomenon of multinational military &nbsp;units. He also covers the Ukraine NATO relationship. He has also worked &nbsp;as a Journalist at the Ukrainian TV station 24 Channel. He has a PhD in &nbsp;History and wrote his thesis on British colonial and postcolonial policy &nbsp;in the Caribbean colonies.</p>
