Summary
<p>Aaliyah Kyles rented her first apartment in January, securing a unit at The Boulevard in the Hickory Hills neighborhood of Memphis.</p> <p>The complex features smart locks on every unit, off-street parking, and regular patrols. Amenities include a gym, pool, basketball court, playground, and a spacious clubhouse. The location sits just minutes from Hickory Ridge Mall, the Memphis Coliseum, and Memphis International Airport.</p> <p>Around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, a resident at The Boulevard heard gunshots and saw a man dressed in all black running from a nearby apartment. She called 911 to report the shooting but could not provide details about the suspect.</p> <p>Memphis police responded and found the door to Aaliyah Kyles’ apartment wide open. Nothing inside appeared immediately out of place, but officers discovered a gruesome scene in the bathroom. Kyles was lying dead in the bathtub. She was naked and had multiple gunshot wounds.</p> <p>Investigators determined the suspect entered through a window with a broken lock.
