<p>Is homophobia about values or just fear? </p><p>Traditional voices argue there's a legitimate difference between disagreeing with homosexuality and hating gay people - that promoting the nuclear family and traditional roles isn't bigotry, and that religious teaching on sin is loving, not hateful. </p><p>Progressive voices argue the opposite - that homophobia is the enforcement mechanism keeping men emotionally stunted and hollow, and that men obsessed with policing what's &quot;gay&quot; are trapped by their own insecurity.
