We talk about Schelling’s understanding of <strong>battlefield commitment strategy</strong>, <strong>signaling</strong>, <strong>interstate conflict</strong>, and the <strong>nuclear weapons “taboo.”</strong> We watch a clip of Tom talking about helping <strong>Stanley Kubrick</strong> to conceptualize his film <strong><em>Dr. Strangelove</em></strong> by gaming out how a <strong>doomsday machine</strong> capable of launching ICBMs would affect the decisions made by the US and the USSR. I often find myself asking, <strong>“What would Tom think?”</strong> about one question or another, and here I try to answer that question as it pertains to the <strong>conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza</strong>. And finally, Tom died before <strong>AI</strong> developed to its present state.
