Fighting Environmental Racism and Seeking Justice with Hunter Shkolnik

<p>Hunter Shkolnik, a partner with Napoli Shkolnik, is a highly sought-after trial attorney who focuses his practice on the trials of significant personal injury cases, primarily in the area of drug, automobile, aviation-related, and heavy truck product liability litigation.</p> <p>Hunter leads trial teams for myriad mass tort pharmaceutical and medical device litigations and is active in managing national litigation and plaintiff litigation groups. Hunter also serves in leadership roles, some court-appointed, on Plaintiff Steering Committees in various drug and other mass torts. On December 30, 2021, after five months of testimony and several weeks of deliberating, a jury ruled in favor of New York State, Suffolk County, and Nassau County (represented by Napoli Shkolnik), finding that a group of drug companies created a public nuisance through their role in the opioid crisis. This case garnered a lot of attention, in part because it was the first time that the plaintiffs chose to sue everyone in the supply chain in the same lawsuit. Although the damages have yet to be determined, Hunter has estimated that the number could be in the tens or even hundreds of billions. The damages portion of the trial will take place in 2022.</p> <p>Hunter is also a founding board member of the Trial Lawyers of Puerto Rico, a trade association bringing together top trial lawyers to share expertise, build partnerships, and to add value to the local Puerto Rico community.
