9:18Now PlayingCOVID-19 can linger on surfaces twice longer than initially thought, including phone screens, bank notes and stainless steel, according to new research by Australia's Science Agency, CSIRO, and the Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in Geelong, Victoria.
Dr Debbie Eagles is Deputy Director of ACDP, and said: "At 20 degrees Celsius, which is about room temperature, we found that the virus was extremely robust, surviving for 28 days on smooth surfaces such as glass found on mobile phone screens and plastic banknotes."
Professor Trevor Drew, from the CSIRO, appeared on Today this morning, to discuss the research.
