YouTube Description
as posted by the channelA new study published in the British Medical Journal shows just how important mothers are in promoting healthy habits and body weights for their children.
Researchers followed approximately 17,000 female nurses and more than 24,000 children ages 9-14 over 5 years to see how the mothers' habits affected the rates of their children becoming obese.
When mothers followed five healthy habits, their children had a 75 percent lower risk of becoming obese.
The five healthy habits were:
- Normal BMI (between 18.5-24.9).
- 150 min/week of moderate exercise.
- Not smoking.
- Drinking alcohol in moderation (1 drink/day or less).
- Good diet.
When mothers and their kids both had all five healthy habits, the risk of having kids who were obese was even lower, at 82 percent.
