as posted by the channelDenver Housing Authority purchased the Rodeway Inn Motel on Federal Boulevard in 2020 – the city will not renew the lease – 70 people must leave by the end of August.
"With the closure of Rodeway and the work being done there, there's no non-congregate option specifically for trans and non-binary people," said Megan Davenport, CEO and president of The Gathering Place.
The city says it has over $23 million dollars to purchase non-congregate shelters this year, but isn't saying which populations those shelters will serve.
Studies show LGBTQ+ people are at higher risk of homelessness and are more likely to face challenges within the traditional shelter system.
