That's according to a draft report obtained by CNN.
It proposes an increase in admissions from the western hemisphere and a decrease in admissions from Europe and central Asia.
According to the draft, the new cap would be 35,000 to 50,000 refugees from Latin America and the Caribbean.
This year, it was set at 15,000.
But according to federal data, only 5500 refugees have been resettled in the US.
The changes outlined in the draft would provide a legal avenue for migrants without having to journey to the US - Mexico border.

La administración Biden planea mantener el límite de refugiados en 125.000 personas el próximo año.
