1:53Now PlayingA man was shot and injured by a Denver Police officer around 3 a.m. on Aug. 3.
Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said during a news conference that day that several officers were managing crowds in the area when a person flagged an officer and reported a man with a gun near a vehicle in a nearby parking lot.
The officer approached the vehicle that matched the description and asked a man standing next to it to show his hands, Thomas said.
That's when the man pulled out a gun in what police described as a "threatening way", followed by the officer firing one gunshot that hit the man in the arm.
