Winds are set to increase on Friday ahead of Colorado's next storm system, but those same downsloping winds will boost the temperatures in Denver into the 60s once again.
A sharp cold front is set to push into Colorado's northern mountains late Friday night, bringing a quick shot of heavier snow after dark Friday into Saturday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday morning, which means that ski traffic between Idaho Springs and Vail Pass could be slick. Tomorrow morning's ski traffic looks especially rough. A widespread 4-12 inches of snow looks likely in the teal shaded zone below, with the higher amounts probably north of Interstate 70 and above pass level.
If you can, go to the mountains on Friday during the day, and Friday night should be better in the evening. The steadiest snow moves in after 8 p.m. Friday in the mountains.
