1:35Now PlayingMohamed Soliman, 45, has been charged with a federal hate crime after allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at a group walking to raise awareness of Israeli hostages Sunday afternoon at Boulder's Pearl Street Mall. The attack injured 12 people and had been planned for a year, according to investigators.
The Boulder attack occurred amid what the ADL calls an unprecedented wave of antisemitism. In 2024, the organization recorded 9,354 antisemitic incidents across the United States — the highest number since ADL began tracking such incidents 46 years ago. This represents a 344% increase over the past five years and a 893% increase over the past decade.
Boulder City Councilwoman Tara Winer said she has witnessed this escalation firsthand, experiencing antisemitic harassment and rants at city council meetings, usually during public comment.
