Officials said two of the bats were found on the west side of the park, marking the first time white-nose syndrome (WNS) has been detected in Grand County. The test results for WNS weren't a surprise after lab tests performed in April by the U.S. Geological Survey showed the fungus that causes WNS, Pseudogymnoascus destructans, had been found in bats in the area of the Holzwarth Historic Site, park officials said.
