Mostly sunny to start the day with an increase in cloud cover as tropical moisture from the south moves northward into Colorado again today. Monsoonal showers and storms will lead to another active weather day today, with slow-moving showers and storms capable of producing flash flooding, gusty winds, and small hail.
There is a limited risk for severe weather for the I-25 corridor, including the Denver metro area, for both today and tomorrow from these storms. However, the main issue from today's and tomorrow's storms will be flash flooding. Some parts of the south metro Denver area picked up more than two inches of rain from last night's storms.
Storms have developed in the mountains early-to-mid afternoon and have spread into the foothills and Denver area between 2-7 p.m. Today's storms will likely move a bit quicker than yesterday's, and they could have small hail and gusty winds as well.
We'll also have more clouds than sun and a notable cooldown following a weak overnight cold front. That'll snap a streak of six-straight 90-degree days in Denver.
After today's and tomorrow's cloudier and stormier weather, we'll clear things out and warm up for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Highs on Saturday and Sunday could approach 100 degrees in Denver, with only isolated mountain storm chances this weekend.
