0:34Now PlayingAn effort to bring a second Buc-ee's location to Colorado has reached its next phase. The Texas-based travel store and gas station chain is looking to acquire the land for a location in El Paso County, between Denver and Colorado Springs.
Buc-ee's has inquired about annexing and developing land for a potential 74,000-square-foot store at Interstate 25 and County Line Road, between Larkspur and Monument.
The Town of Palmer Lake released a summary of the negotiated terms on Friday of a proposed annexation agreement with Buc-ee's. Palmer Lake's Board of Trustees is scheduled to consider and may vote on the agreement at a Special Trustee Meeting on Thursday, Aug. 28.
Under the proposed terms, Buc-ee's would pay for all roadway improvements required by Palmer Lake or the Colorado Department of Transportation, including improvements to County Line Road, Beacon Lite, and the I-25 and County Line Road interchange. The terms call for Palmer Lake to not pay for any of the road improvements related to the development.
The proposed terms call for a 3% sales tax, with Buc-ee’s receiving 1% and the remaining 2% for Palmer Lake. The sales tax is anticipated to generate $1 million annually for Palmer Lake, the town said.
