7:36Now PlayingA jury on Wednesday found former Aurora dentist James Craig guilty of murder and five additional felony counts in the poisoning of his wife, Angela, in 2023. He will spend the rest of his life in prison.
The jury heard 10 days of testimony from nearly 50 witnesses. It took them about nine hours to make a decision. Craig showed no visible emotion as the verdict was delivered.
The jury found Craig guilty of first-degree murder, two counts of solicitation to commit tampering with physical evidence, two counts of solicitation to commit perjury in the first degree, and one count of solicitation of first-degree murder.
Judge Shay Whitaker sentenced Craig to life in prison, along with an additional 33 years for the five felony charges, with all sentences to be served one after another.
The jury found him not guilty of one count of manslaughter - cause or aid suicide. Prosecutors maintained Craig's wife did not kill herself, despite his assertions that she was suicidal.
James Craig didn't speak at his own sentencing, and no one stood to speak on his behalf. Several of Angela Craig's siblings and two of her children spoke for her. Among them, a common thread: Angela was incredibly loved.
