2:08Now PlayingThe City of Denver eliminated 928 jobs from the general fund in mass layoffs on Monday morning in an effort to save money.
One hundred seventy one people lost their jobs, making up 1.6% of the workforce.
The eliminated positions account for about 8.4% of the city's workforce. Another 6% came from the city eliminating 665 vacant positions. Ninety two people had their positions transferred off the city's general fund to be paid by other funding source aligned with their work, according to the city.
