Danny O'Shea and Ellie Kam on winning first competition after skating together only 3 months

Ellie Kam had never competed internationally before. Danny O'Shea had 14 years of experience representing the US. When they competed at their first international event together after just 2-3 months of training as a pair, they WON. This rapid ascent to international competition was unlike anything typical in pairs figure skating - most teams have extensive tryout periods and years to develop chemistry. For Ellie, it was a massive jump from never competing internationally to suddenly being on the Grand Prix circuit. She admits it was hard to enjoy in the beginning because everything happened so fast, but they've learned to "smell the roses" and appreciate their unique journey. Danny discusses how they targeted that crucial third Olympic spot for Team USA in their very first year together - an ambitious goal that somehow worked out.
