5:24Now PlayingAmerican figure skater Camden Pulkinen opens up about his unconventional path to Olympic contention. The 25-year-old Arizona native has never been one to follow the traditional route—from being the ice skater in the desert to working in finance at Capital One while pursuing elite athletic goals.
Camden discusses his philosophy on embracing nerves and pressure, describing himself as an "adrenaline junkie" who thrives when absorbing the stress of competition rather than pushing it away. He reflects on his childhood coach Karen Giselle, who taught him that passion is everything, and how the Coyote Skating Club in Arizona shaped his early years.
After moving to Colorado Springs at 16, attending college in New York City in 2022, and spending a year in corporate finance, Camden is now back at the Olympic Training Center with one clear mission. He's competed at Worlds, Four Continents, and Nationals—but the Olympics remains the one goal he hasn't achieved. With the Olympic year here, he's locked in on representing Team USA while maintaining his unique identity as a skater who blends artistry and athleticism.
