3:06Now PlayingAn Englewood Police officer faces multiple charges after being accused of putting a man in a chokehold during a traffic stop last month, 9NEWS Investigates has learned.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by 9NEWS Investigates, the incident began when the officer, Ryan Vasina, pulled over a 20-year-old driver at the corner of East Layton Avenue and South Lincoln Street late the night of Oct. 8.
Vasina stopped the man after he went through a stop sign. The man, identified in court documents as a Venezuelan national, later told investigators he primarily speaks Spanish and had trouble understanding the officer, who told him to produce his driver's license and turn over his keys.
The man did not, according to the arrest affidavit.
Vasina pulled the man from the car, put him on the ground, put him in a chokehold, and used a Taser on him, according to the affidavit.
