The shooting happened at the Maverik gas station at the intersection of South Parker Road and South Peoria Street on Oct. 27. Around 8:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery there, said Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas.
When officers arrived, a witness told police that an armed person had locked themselves inside the store with two store employees, Thomas said. As officers were developing a tactical plan, they heard shots coming from inside the store. They forced entry into the business and confronted Moore who was firing shots, Thomas said.
Officers shot Moore, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He died at the hospital.
Police said one officer suffered a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening and was taken to Denver Health. Two employees of the store also suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries, police said.
