She won a special election in Arizona more than 7 weeks ago, but Speaker of the House Mike Johnson refused to swear her in until the government reopened. Grijalva said that making her wait that long was an abuse of power. Her confirmation also added the final signature needed on a petition that could compel the Department of Justice to release all unclassified documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.
