Some keep it simple with stock Apple backgrounds, while others curate rotating collections of memories. Jamie Anderson keeps a childhood photo of herself with a broken wrist—the same injury she recently suffered—as a reminder that healing is essential. Jason Brown's screen shows him matching outfits with his dad, his hero who celebrates every win and every fall. Red Gerard has his buddies riding "girlfriend style" on a snowmobile, a photo that's been his background since before the 2018 Olympics.
Several athletes feature their pets: Madison Chock and Evan Bates have their poodles Henry and Stella, Nick Goepper has his girlfriend and cat ("my two favorite girls"), and Brenna Huckaby keeps all four of her pets close by—admitting "if I don't win, who's going to feed them?" Family and relationships dominate many screens: Oksana Masters and Aaron Pike together (though she admits she had the gold medal photo up after surgery), Steve Emt fly fishing with his girlfriend, Kendall Gretsch with multiple photos of her fiancé (they met at Beijing opening ceremonies), and Kristen Santos-Griswold with her nephew who inspires her to be a good role model. Colby Stevenson keeps Alaska on his screen—a face he skied in Haines where he goes heli skiing and makes movies.
