1:33Now PlayingNearly a decade after a body was found on an Amtrak train at Union Station, a Colorado man has been convicted of murdering his girlfriend.
Last Friday, Anthony Mantych was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Marina Placensia, who was traveling from Wisconsin to Denver with her four children on Sept. 1, 2016. Family members say Placensia was trying to escape an abusive relationship when Mantych killed her.
Mantych faces life in prison without the possibility of parole and is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 9.
Placensia’s brother, Chris Medina, said he had waited years to hear the verdict.
