The lights on Denver's City and County Building have been a Christmas tradition for more than a century.

According to both history and legend, it all started because of what happened in 1914 at a house near 34th Avenue and Tennyson Street in Denver. That’s where David Dwight (D.D.) Sturgeon, who founded Sturgeon Electric Co., lived with his family.
