Xcel Energy is warning customers in parts of northern Colorado to prepare for power outages Friday morning as a part of a precaution to reduce wildfire risk during high winds.
To reduce the risk and protect public safety, Xcel Energy said it's planning for a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) beginning around 8 a.m. Friday, impacting about 9,000 customers in portions of Larimer and Weld counties. That includes parts of Fort Collins and nearby communities. Weather conditions are expected to start improving around 4 p.m. Friday.
