0:47Now PlayingA man who was shot in an exchange of gunfire with an Edgewater Police officer in Wheat Ridge on Saturday has died, Edgewater Police said.
According to a release from the Edgewater Police Department, an officer on regular patrol saw a GMC Yukon in the area of West 24th Avenue and Pierce Street in Edgewater just after 10:30 a.m. Before the officer could contact the driver of the Yukon, they drove away on Pierce Street. The release said the officer began to follow the Yukon, but did not try to stop the driver, who sped away from the officer. There was no pursuit.
