2:33Now PlayingThe sounds of jazz filled Denver's historic Five Points neighborhood Saturday as the community kicked off Black History Month with the opening celebration of Jazz Roots. Beyond the music, business owners are demanding real change along Welton Street.
The free festival, running from noon to midnight, featured continuous live music at multiple venues along the Welton Street corridor and beyond, honoring the cultural legacy of what was once known as Denver's jazz district.
As crowds packed the street, a city study loomed that could reshape the corridor entirely.
"It's a historic corridor, and it deserves the attention," said Rise Jones, owner of TeaLee's tea house.
