4:51Now PlayingAlamo Drafthouse Cinema will rename a Littleton movie theater after Denver native Pam Grier. The Texas-based movie chain said the The Pam Grier Cinema name will launch with a live event to honor the actor Friday.
A graduate of Denver's East High School, Grier rose to prominence in the 1970s with roles in such movies as "The Big Doll House," "Coffy," "Foxy Brown," "Sheba," "Baby," "Jackie Brown," and "Friday Foster."
"Alamo Drafthouse Cinema intentionally creates an emotional and sensory cinematic journey – one that invites us to pause, stop the clock, and let time come to us," Grier said. "Experiencing that in my hometown of Denver makes it all the more meaningful."
The Pam Grier Celebration Event on May 15 will have a 35mm double feature of "Foxy Brown" and "Jackie Brown." Grier will also participate in a on-stage conversation about her career and impact on the industry.
