5:20Now PlayingTwo people were treated for smoke inhalation and 50 residents displaced after a Tuesday morning 3-alarm apartment fire in Aurora.
The fire started at about 1:24 a.m. Tuesday in a building at 797 N. Dillon Way, near Interstate 225 and East 6th Avenue, according to Aurora Fire Rescue. Due to the reported fire conditions inside an occupied apartment building, a second alarm was dispatched to the scene.
The first engine to arrive to the scene noticed flames showing from the second and third floors of the building, according to Aurora Fire. Several residents were rescued by firefighters, Aurora Fire said.
At about 1:47 a.m., firefighters were called out of the building and a third alarm was called for additional support to battle the fire from the exterior of the building, according to Aurora Fire.
After about an hour of battling the fire, crews were able to extinguish hot spots in the building, Aurora Fire said.
A total of 24 apartments were impacted and 50 people living in those apartments were displaced, according to Aurora Fire. The Red Cross was called in to assist those who were displaced, Aurora Fire said.
