The severe trade barriers on British exports to the EU has seen trade fall even compared to the pandemic blighted 2020, but exports from the EU to the UK have increased. Without reciprocal trade barriers in place for EU imports to Britain, EU businesses have a huge competetive advantage with brexit. This is leaving the UK government without any leverage at all in continued negotiations.
