Nearly six years later, it could be argued that the Germans are taking their time in riding to our rescue. The latest trade figures show that Germany has massively increased its exports around the world, only losing out to the UK market. In return, UK exports to Germany have dropped massively. Maybe this is why the brexiteers' claim was never likely to come true.
