The government's aims since brexit has not been to reduce trade friction, but to shove the lorries somewhere off the road. They introduced IT systems to discourage lorry drivers from even trying to get to the border for potentially days, lorry parks to put lorries for more days, and are now planning even more places to park the lorries that would otherwise be blocking the roads.
