A report in the Sunday Times has suggested the possibility that Evgeny Lebedev, a close friend of Boris Johnson, may have persuaded the now Prime Minister to back the UK leaving the EU. It also shines an interesting spotlight on Johnson's insistence that Lebedev be elevated to the House of Lords against opposition from various quarters, including MI6. As putting Lebedev in the House of Lords did not benefit Johnson politically, this must have been Lebedev's request. So why did he want the position so badly and so urgently?
