Liz Truss is promising the mythical bonfire of regulations as a brexit benefit, including for the farmers she screwed over with her brexit trade deals, especially with Australia and New Zealand. However, dropping or loosening regulations will only make things worse. British farmers need to be able to export to Europe. There is no compensating for this trade elsewhere. And to trade more easily with Europe, they cannot afford to let lower standards in their industry make it even more difficult to sell their produce.
