as posted by the channelOnce a year on the Victorian coast, just after the tourists have packed up their tents and scraped off their surfboard wax, the townsfolk come out to run down the main street in their underwear.
The race is called the Undy 500.
No one seems to know how it started or why it exists, but we don't mind. It's ridiculous enough to not matter.
The competitors line up, shivering in the cold and wind of a summer's day in Warrnambool at 8am.
Many of them are traditionally not competitive runners, with some charging up on a bacon and egg breakfast moments before racing.
The Undy 500 and associated big breakfast is held at the centre of town, on Leibig Street, the main street.
It launches the Wunta Fiesta which is about celebrating everything local in Warrnambool — including the locals themselves, and their underwear.
