as posted by the channelIn gorgeous downtown Dampier on coastal north-west WA is a small tight-knit community of people who have come to work at the mining industry port facility. Many young families and now-retired people make up a community of enthusiastic locals who love to promote their town.
In 2016 the community hosted their inaugural Dampier Billy Cart Derby with support from the Dampier Community Association. Local businesses pitched in funds to help the organisers raise enough money to build a ramp, pay the insurance and run the day in fine style. Inspiration for the event was taken from the Marble Bar Billy Cart Grand Prix and has now become a yearly fixture in Dampier.
