Suburban Christmas light extravaganza in country Australia 🎄💡 #ChristmasInAus

Every Christmas since 2003, David Rawsthorne and his family set up and host this lighting extravaganza in the front yard of their suburban home in Lithgow.

He works as an electrical operator at one of the nearby power stations so his skills are quite fitting to the massive task he takes on each year.

Power by numbers

- There are 33,631 individual LED lights in the display.

- The display uses less power than a 50 inch plasma television, averaging a draw of 400 watts over the duration of the 4 hour show each night.

- It takes around 8 - 10 months to design and build the display.

- David takes 4 – 5 weeks off work to prepare and operate the show.

- Requires 8 hours to pack up the lights at the end of December.

- The show is all computer animated to music that is played out by a small transmitter. Visitors can simply tune in their radios to see the lights flash in time with the songs.
