Systems are based off broadband, long rage wifi, radio systems or satellites. Some allow web based messaging which is a significant step towards improving remote location safety, others simply monitor tank water levels.
It's a space that is expected to grow as technology improves and becomes more cost effective.
Producers say using connectivity and data is a stark contrast to constantly bumping over dusty station tracks in the sweltering heat to physically check tanks and troughs.
