3:29Now PlayingWhat’s red, wide, high, travels long distances and can move really fast? And it’s really, really dusty. A dust storm! The Australian outback is the largest source of dust in the entire Southern Hemisphere, so it’s not surprising that dust storms are fairly common. But why are they red? The colour comes from the red soil, which contains iron oxide. It’s basically rusty dirt!

Hosted by Nate Byrne, from ABC NEWS Breakfast, and meteorologists from the Bureau of Meteorology, this is weather presented for kids in a way they can understand and get excited about.
