As thousands flock to the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the AFL finals, 2,000 kilometres away players are preparing for a football experience with a difference.

"It's a real outback football league. You can't get any more remote than here in the APY Lands," Mimili Football Club captain Zibeon Fielding said.

"It takes a few hours just to round up the boys and ensure they have their boots and goods for the game."
