Sunday the 17th of May marks the 250th Anniversary since Cook wrote about Stradbroke Island in his diaries.

Dr Aileen Moreton-Robinson explains the cultural importance and recent devastation of Minjerribah’s Lake Burmeer, also known as Brown Lake on North Stradbroke Island - a picturesque location now faced with an influx of tourists.

In collaboration with the National Museum of Australia’s exhibition marking the 250th anniversary of Captain Cook’s voyage to Australia, this collection focuses on the history and culture of Indigenous communities along Australia’s east coast, from the locations Cook wrote about in his journals from that fateful voyage.
