4:15Now PlayingPort Lincoln woman Michelle Casserley has had depression since she was a teenager dealing with childhood abuse.
She lived her teens binge drinking, cutting, and thinking she wasn’t going to live.
She dragged herself back to some sort of normal and says therapy was essential to her recovery.
She’s been on a wellness journey ever since and uses a number of techniques to feel better. She drums, journals, and gardens. She makes and gives out homemade felt hearts, inspired by the Thousand Hearts Project. Michelle loves craft and uses this to make things for her own happiness and others.
She makes affirmation cards for strangers and leaves them for people to find, hoping they’ll make a difference to someone.
Her wellness journey includes walking with her dog Claire, a 14-year-old golden retriever.
She’s clocked up more than 400 days of happiness walks and is now braving daily icy ocean swims and that’s putting a smile on her face.
