2:25Now PlayingThese mothers turned the tragedy of losing their child into a second chance at life for someone else. The five women each decided to donate their loved one’s organs, including the mother of Brett Thomson who died last year after falling and hitting his head on the ground during an altercation outside a Cairns bar. They are encouraging people to register as organ donors and have the conversation with their families. 1,700 Australians are currently on the waitlist for a transplant but donor registrations are down this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. DonateLife Week runs until 2 August.
