Some of Australia’s oldest transport vehicles now have a new home at the Stories from the Road Museum in South Australia’s mid north.
The vehicles on display include one of the oldest trucks in Australia, the Daimler-Renard, which was found dilapidated and forgotten at the ghost town of Farina in SA’s far north.
Other transport vehicles at the museum are ones that served in World War II, then came back to Australia to work on farms.
Historian and long-time transport industry worker Liz Martin is the owner of the museum.
She’s doing her best to save Australia’s transport history and memorabilia.
This includes memorialising the legends of the road, such as bus and truck drivers, who may not have been acknowledged before.
